Blouse Fitting Guide

Cake Couture Lulabell Long Sleeve Shirt

The blouse fitting guide presents useful advice for the perfect fit of your blouses.

Collar:

The collar of the woman's blouse should end at the middle of the neck and lie flat.

If you close the top button, you should feel comfortable around your throat, and there should be no straining.

Shoulders:

The shoulder seam should run flat along your shoulder and should end at the point where your collarbone ends (this applies to a regular blouse style).

Breast:

Check to be sure that your breasts don`t pull the blouse forward, lift the front hem, or cause the buttons to gape open.

If there is any pulling around the breasts or under the arms, the blouse is too small.

Body:

There should be no pulling across the upper back, upper arms, or chest.

To see if the blouse fits comfortably, you should cross your arms in front of you, raise them up over your head, and try sitting down.

The side seams should have a straight, smooth run from the underarm to the hem, without any puckering or pulling.

Sleeves:

The sleeves should reach to the point where your thumb starts.

Generally the sleeve should be wide enough so that you can move your arms freely without disturbing the fit of the body part of the blouse.

Some sleeve constructions are so tightly shaped that it is impossible to be really comfortable when you move your arms.

Hem / Length:

Which length you choose depends on weather you are tucking in your blouse or wearing the hem of the blouse outside your pants or skirt.

If you are tucking it in, the blouse should be long enough so that you can sit down and raise your arms without pulling the sides of the blouse outside the waistband of the pants or the skirt.

If you don`t tuck the blouse in, you should choose the length that is most flattering for your figure.
